Great North Run 2008

Hurricane Gustav swept through Tyneside on Sunday 5th October 2008 and completed the half marathon in a not too shabby 1 hour 52 minutes.

A host of celebrities from the world of cinema, football, politics, TV and the music industry helped me in my quest for glory. I was beaten by a few bananas, Buzz Lightyear and Apprentice winner Lee McQueen but thankfully managed the distance without the need for an unscheduled "comfort break".

Many thanks to my good friend Stuart Harding who put me up for the night and was my race day logistics co-ordinator.

I was also joined at the finish line by fellow runner Paul Davison who managed to blag his way into the NACC charity tent, scoff his body weight in BLTs and feature in the official NACC team photo.

I was running to raise funds for The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease (NACC) and am very pleased to report that I have raised in excess of £2,000.
